
Payroll Manager
Reno, NV
The Applied Companies is seeking a Payroll Manager for an internal position in the heart of Reno. This position will be responsible for managing the organization's payroll functions, ensuring that pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations for clients and worksite employees in multiple states within the PEO division.
What the Payroll Manager will do:
- Oversee procedures and processes related to preparation and distribution of payroll in a multi-state HRIS.
- Ensure compliance with federal, multi-state, and local payroll, wage and hour laws and best practices.
- Provide accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including new hires, terminations and changes to pay rates.
- Understands the entire payroll process and wage and hour laws for multiple states with an emphasis on Nevada and California.
- Facilitates audits by providing records and documentation to auditors.
- Oversees the daily workflow of the payroll department.
- Puts in place systems where all details of a client's payroll is checked to identify any foreseeable consequence of work and addresses those when needed.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism in dealing with confidential and sensitive issues.
- Processes payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes and other deductions.
What the Payroll Manager needs to have:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, Human Resources, or related field preferred, or
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and at least five (5) years’ experience required.
- Five plus (5+) years of experience in payroll processing in a complex payroll environment of multiple clients.
- CPP Certification
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to communicate and deal effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
- Strong interpersonal skills with flexibility and the willingness to take on projects as needed with enthusiasm while being committed to high standards.
- Exhibits excellent customer service skills
Additional Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with HR/Payroll Management Software.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while providing a high level of accuracy with attention to detail.
