Production Supervisor

The Applied Companies has an amazing opportunity for a Production Supervisor position with one of our valued manufacturing clients in North Reno. Under the supervision of the Plant Manager the Production Supervisor is responsible for supervising their respective shift of production employees and maintaining the flow of the production floor and product in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This role will also require the ability to move personnel, identify bottlenecks, and handle tense situations. Furthermore, the Production Supervisor will handle and maintain production schedules, assign work, implement/comply with policies and procedures and recommends improvements for production methods, equipment and operating procedures/working conditions.

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Ensures proper staffing at each station.
  • Ensures employees are properly trained/verifies competence to perform their job duties.
  • Ensures that work instructions are understood and adhered to by all employees.
  • Ensures coordination between lines to cover breaks and lunches as needed.
  • Ensures quality of finished goods by inspections, end of shift reviews, and LPA’s.
  • Ensures that lines do not shut down due to lack of material/personnel.
  • Ensure proper production quantities are produced per schedule to meet business/client’s needs.
  • End of shift inspection of scrap bins to verify count of production report (along with Quality Inspector and/or Quality Technician).
  • Ensures that staff is available as needed for sorts and rework as required.
  • Responsible for new hire training, (i.e. safety, PPE, Quality Teams’ requirements).
  • Ensures that all timecard records are verified and accurate for production employees.
  • Schedules employee time off to ensure adequate staffing levels are available for production/operation needs.
  • Takes part in the selection process of the Production Operators for their respective shift.
  • Performs annual employee performance reviews as well as new hire evaluations.
  • Identifies development and training needs and ensures that training is obtained.
  • Participates and supervises employees cross training.
  • Requisitions supplies, and materials as needed for production floor.
  • Will be required to rotate and learn all operations per work stations.
  • Must be a “lean thinker” by helping develop and maintain standards in accordance with lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Must be able to process required paperwork (i.e. daily attendance roasters, weekly time cards).
  • Is conscientious, and follows all plant Quality Teams’ requirements.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas (5S).
  • Follow all clean up and housekeeping procedures (5S) i.e. production floor, shipping & receiving office and warehouse as needed.
  • Ability to communicate and understand verbal and written instructions in English.

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Licenses, Certifications, Etc:

  • Requires Associate Degree in a related field and at least 1-5 years experience in Supervisory Management.
  • Must have good interpersonal skills.
  • Computer skills. Microsoft Office, time clock systems and QAD are a plus.
  • Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must be able to lift and move objects between 35-50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, stand, bend, and sit in both a production and office environments.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work.

Schedule: Friday-Sunday, with Thursdays every other week. 

12 hour shifts, 6pm-6am.
